To begin, I have thought about making my magazine a certain type of genre. I have an interest in rock/metal music, so I thought that this would be a good idea. I used www.magforum.com to look at all the different types of music magazines that I could base my magazine around. "Kerrang!" is a good magazine as it connotes a rock/metal genre. Kerrang! is well known for having bands on their front covers. These are usually bands which produce rock/metal music. Typically, they have the lead singer over the title of the magazine and the rest of the members are behind this. I could use this idea for my front cover. I could also just have one person on the front and just have them over the title.
I also have an interest in drumming. I have to be careful with the idea of drumming because I could turn the magazine into a hobby magazine instead of a music magazine. I have to make sure that the content that I am adding into the front cover and contents is music related. I could have news about different and famous drummers and the new music they are producing. "Drummer" magazine is a popular drumming magazine/ music magazine about new drummers and drummers music. Typically with "Drummer" magazine there is always a famous drummer from a famous band on the front, over the title just like Kerrang.
Another magazine within the rock music industry is "Rock". Rock is another magazine which connotes and promotes rock/metal music. This magazine is more about bands themselves and their stories together instead of the music. Wihin the front cover of "Rock", just like the other magazines, someone is over the title.
I think that the attitude of magazine companies is that, they believe their magazine is the most popular so everyone should know what the title is just by looking at it. Even if there is someone over part of the title, people should know what magazine it is.
These are all my finished products in Media at East Norfolk Sixth Form College.
